Are you tired of hearing about Beyonce and Jay-Z's new baby, Blue Ivy Carter? You're not alone -- Beyonce's parents, Mathew and Tina Knowles, feel the same way! The Knowleses are excited about their new granddaughter but feel her superstar parents "are overdoing things" and "starting the publicity machine too soon,"
Mathew and Tina think Beyonce and Jay-Z need to "back off a bit and pull back on the publicity they are helping generate for that child," "a close Knowles associate" tells the newspaper.
Mathew and Tina, who know a thing or two about inventing a brand, "think it's too soon to start that process with baby Blue Ivy and are concerned it may backfire with a public increasingly tired of celebrities using their kids as marketing tools," the Sun-Times reports.
Unfortunately, Mathew and Tina's advice is coming about five months too late. Ever since Beyonce debuted her bump at the MTV VMAs, she and Jay-Z have been whoring out her pregnancy (real or fake) non-stop for publicity. Blue Ivy's arrival is the only positive media attention Beyonce and Jay-Z have gotten for a while -- her album 4 hasn't gone anywhere, and he's been criticized recently both for laying off half the Rocawear staff and for trying to profit off Occupy Wall Street without sharing the proceeds with the movement.
