First. I must say that it's been hard to stay spoiler free until today. Like you bitches have posted every single leaked frame AND the script, lol.
I also tried to not listen to the full soundtrack (and focused mainly on 'bound to you', THE wigsnatching ballad of the century).
Anyway, christina was great. I'm not going to say oscar worthy or anything cuz I cant really judge acting, but she did a great, convincing job. My complains would be more geared toward her lines, rather than her performance.
As for the film, one thing I *really* liked is how the mixed musical numbers with other scenes. Like in the very first song, with the whole packing up and going to LA thing, and the burlesque dancers too.
I didnt like the interruption in 'bound to you' however (right before the "suddenly the moment's here.."), and I still dont get why they didnt do something like that to chers ballad, which was visually boring as hell.
Before watching it, my main concern was that *MOST* of the film would take part in the dark burlesque club. I hate movies that take place in the same facility, don't ask me why, but I get like second-hand-film-claustrophobia. But it wasnt the case with burlesque. There were enough outdoor scenes to make up for it :P
Character wise, I loved cher scenes. Sure, her face has a fixed expression but her character was hella convicing. As for christina, at some point her character is all over the place. Not her fault, though. Like for example, at some point they show you christina eavesdropping on eric dane making the offer to buy the place, but then she's kinda bitchy to cher when she lectures her on choosing the right people and so on.
And she's hella bitchy to jack for like no reason, and this made the reconciliation and subsequent shag quite awkward. And then it's like she snaps back into innocence. At this point the film was already kinda dragging, 2 hours is like *a bit* too long for a comedy.
So yeah, whoever wrote the script or decided to cut some scenes, there's a missing link in ali's character development. I mean, as an spectator, you dont really inferr that just because she hangs with eric dane she becomes a bitch, lol.
Oh, the "omgggggg look at those shoesss" comment was hella stupid. Understandable, that she likes the shoes, but she had never shown signs of being a stupid shoe-loving bimbo.
But her performance is great though. I mean my complaints are against the script/development.
Oh, I definitely hated the camera job. They ABUSED face close ups.
So now that the cat is out of the bag for me, what the hell was supposed to happen in that airport scene that never came to be?
Oh and dont EVEN get me started on Nikki. Tess should have smacked the bitch downE from the very first scene. The way the character is written in (nikki's), it's just too stupid to be true. Julianne Hough was amazing though.
