Hey Troy, Rich and other Chicago area peeps! If you're going to be in Chicago over Thanksgiving (I'm working on it) there is going to be a great show on Friday after Thanksgiving. After two successful Halloweensteens Michael McDermott is going to do a Thanksgivingsteen show. If you haven't guessed by now this is Michael McDermott and band doing a 2 and 1/2 hour show covering Springsteen, or as Michael explains it, he plays the Springsteen show he would like to see. It is at Joes Bar on Weed Street.

Here is a link to Michael's cover of Thunder Road at Halloweensteen. Powerful vocals and a gorgeous piano. There are a couple of spots where the recording scratches but I still think it's excellent.

Troy, I'm glad you have a group together and can go to what is going to be a fabulous show. It looks like I am staying here in Louisville, so I'll miss you guys and Mr. McDermott.:cry:
I am going to start planning for Halloweensteen 3 ---- maybe a Bruce tour before then?
Be sure to watch some Steeler action while at Joe's.;):D

What a great night! Michael and his band really did an outstanding job presenting Bruce's music. They really seemed to be enjoying themselves very much.
I am obviously a big fan of both Bruce & Michael, and for me the highlights included the cool instrumental opening on 'Prove It All Night' (a la the live '78 version!), a beautiful coda at the end of 'The River' that was just a goosebump moment, and Michael was bobbing, weaving and almost shadow boxing during 'Backstreets'. Also, his version of his own 'A Wall I Must Climb' (as the final encore) was one of the best versions I've ever seen him do.
My buddy Mike mentioned that Michael really "out-Bruce'd" Bruce in terms of a setlist:
Thunder Road
The Rising
Promised Land
Spirit in the Night
Darkness on the Edge of Town
Growin Up
Prove It All Night
Murder Inc
The River
Brilliant Disguise
I'm on Fire (w/ wife Heather Horton)
Backstreets
I'm Goin Down
Because the Night
She's the One
Trapped
One Step Up
Badlands
Jersey Girl
10th Avenue Freeze Out
Hungry Heart
4th of July, Asbury Park (Sandy)
A Wall I Must Climb
