Hi everyone,

Does anyone have any good book recommendations?
Doesn't really matter in which direction. Just something you've read and think
that others just NEED to read it as well.

Thanks a lot for your help!

I mostly read romance/chick lit.

I love Sophie Kinsella's books "Can you keep a secret?" and "Remember me?"
One of my favorite books is "Fantasy Lover" by Sherrilyn Kenyon. Don't be fooled by the title.
I also love "Something Borrowed" and "Something Blue" by Emily Giffin.

Hmm... As far as classics go, Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice is great. There's the current obvious recommendation of the Harry Potter series, but they deserve all the hype. LoL Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater is something I read recently and really enjoyed-- its a modern werewolf story. Meg Cabot's The Mediator Series is really cool- that one is about ghosts. I also started reading Sherlock Holmes recently and like it so far.

I read "Love, Aubrey" by Suzanne LaFleur recently. I love this heartfelt and sweet book. It's about a shy girl who survived in a car accident that cost her father's and sister's lives. Her mother, who survived as well, grieved so much and practically abandon her. This book tells about how she's surviving emotionally with the help of her grandma and friends.

I loved the Twilight series but I'm normally not a fan of vampire/werewolf/Harry Potter stories.
The "Love, Aubrey" book sounds interesting though!
Thanks for your input

aww I was just about to suggest Percy Jackson and The Olympians series by Rick Riordan, since I'm a Potter fan :P
It's Greek mythology related, I'm on the fourth book.

sherrilyn kenyon is my favorite author! i've read most of her books in the Dark Hunter series! my favorite book by her is "Acheron."

in reply to the OP: i recommend the Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon :) she has other series but i haven't gotten into them as much as i have w/ the Dark Hunter books. she's a great writer and i love her sense of humor. the Dark Hunter series she writes is paranormal romance...it's kind of another vampire/werewolf thing but it's not at all cheesy. she also adds Greek mythology (Greek gods and goddesses) and Atlantis. it's a really interesting book if you're into that kind of genre. it's a mix of fantasy, romance, supernatural, mythology, action, adventure and humor. i love it!

If you like crime/law novels, I quite enjoyed The Color of Law by Mark Gimenez, although it takes a while to get into its quite absorbing after a while.

This is kind of in a different direction, but I'm currently reading "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks" by Rebecca Skloot. It's a nonfiction read about Henrietta Lacks, who's cells were the first to survive in culture and are responsible for countless medical discoveries, including cures and treatments for hundreds of diseases. It's an amazing story and I'm really enjoying it. This woman has - virtually annonymously - affected millions of lives.

The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins are great if you're into Harry Potter.
I also love all of John Green's books.

"Shiver" by Maggie Stiefvater is really a good book. I'm not big into werewold stories either but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Um... The Last Song and Dear John books by Nicholas Sparks are really good as well. Also,You might like "Big Stone Gap", "Big Cherry Holler", and "Milk Glass Moon" by Adriana Trigiani.

Well I mostly read historical, political, op-ed or biographical books....but I recently began re-read Howad Zinn's book titled "A People's History of the United States: 1492- Present." I like this book because it doesn't white-wash history...he tells you the truth, as ugly as it may be.

How to be happy dammit- a cynics guide to happiness GREAT book. It's super simple, but it's cute and I loved the quotes and pictures in it.

I'm reading Life Stratiges by Dr. Phil right now for my interpersonal relations class. Suprisingly good book! Especially if things really aren't going your way right now in life, he really gives you steps to take accountablity for your own life and actions.
